The space lends its name from a nearby permanent art installation, a wood relief made in 1965 by the Swedish sculptor K.G. Bejemark.

It is located in the district of Östermalm in the city centre, Östermalmstorg is a busy metro station, used by 37.000 passengers daily, according to Stockholm Local Transport. The metro station has two main exits, and Kl. 9 is located by the one leading to Stureplan.
